Description

« In the Dark » is a mod for Hexen (initially released in 1995) and running on the original Doom engine. It was created as a level design project related to "Interactive Digital Experience" Gobelins/CNAM-ENJMIN education.
It features a rather dark level adding a RPG twist to the original FPS experience, and an environmental maze shaped as a giant spiderweb.


Useful tips

  • The game uses an inventory system, as well as dialogues interactions. Do not forget to cuztomize the ingame controls according to your preferences (as default ones can be a bit clunky)
  • If the game is literally too dark, you can brighten it by raising the gamma in the options
  • The difficulty curve can be steep, do no hesitate to lower the skill level at the beginning to fully enjoy

Install instructions

IMPORTANT : 

    • This mod requires the original  "Hexen : Beyond Heretic" game to be played ! (HEXEN.WAD). 
    • Mod runs with gzdoom software (available for free on zdoom.org). 
      1. Download the "InTheDark.wad" archive
      2. Put your HEXEN.WAD file in the same folder as the gzdoom installation (where gzdoom.exe is)
      3. Drag and drop it on the gzdoom executable to launch it
